Internships


The Equine Internship Program at Lost Creek Ranch is for students looking to learn more about the horse industry from barn management, training, office/ support staff to community educational programming.  There is emphasis on understanding equine language and advanced horsemanship for all disciplines.  Reliable, hard working, honest students are urged to apply. All duties will include general barn help, feeding, cleaning stalls, grooming, helping to warm up and cool down horses. All interns receive riding lessons. Opportunity to advance horsemanship training and riding skills with green and finished horses, enhance employment qualifications, earn excellent reference for a job well done.

Training Internship: Training Interns will work with Lynette Weldon developing their training and riding skills while increasing their understanding of horses and the development of a highly trained horse. Horses will be assigned and training interns are expected to work with their project horse a minimum of 3 times per week. Training interns will learn various training techniques and will expand their understanding of how horses learn and think as well as the possibility of working directly with rescue horses.

2016 Summer Camp Internships: If you love kids and the outdoors we would love to have you join our team! No horse experience is necessary. Summer Camp interns design afternoon activities, supervise crafts and have a lot of fun! June- August.

Farm Management Internship: Join our ranch team and get hands on experience running a busy ranch. From feeding and caring for our senior and special needs horses to understanding nutrition, pasture management, fencing and barn care as well as budgeting and supply management. Management interns keep vet and farrier records organized and do the most direct care of our herd.

Program Internships: Lost Creek Ranch runs many programs for the community including riding lessons, horsemanship for kids, camps, adult lessons and clinics. Program Interns help educate people about horses, horse care and riding. From helping a youngster saddle a horse for the first time to taking an adult rider on their first ride Program Interns are involved in the heart of our operation and get to have a ton of fun.

Office Internships: Interested in marketing, communications or non profit? Our office interns help run the behind the scenes day to day paper and computer work from an office with the best view of the pastures. Office Interns work directly with Ruth on general scheduling, returning emails and phone calls as well as special projects like trade shows, promoting new programs, designing advertising materials, updating website and social media.

Summer Live-In Internships:
Did you ever wish you could live at horse camp? Two lucky summer interns have just that opportunity every summer. Live in position includes room and board and  free board for your horse . Summer Interns work daily with our campers in horse and non horse activities.

Lost Creek Ranch equine interns have the opportunity to work with you teaching horsemanship and riding skills and work with our rescue horses that need special care.
